Default Question about keys and Key "Blanks"

I did my search-fu diligence and couldn't find any info for this.

I have a 93 SC400 and the blade is broken out of the plastic head of the key.
I called Lexus and they want $75 for a plain key and $190 for a key with the remote. I don't need the remote as mine has never worked since I got it new anyways but $75 sounds like too much for a KEY to me.
I have found a bunch on EBay for pretty cheap but they are all either listed as "Short Blade" or "Long Blade". I am pretty sure my key is longer than the one's I see as "Short Blade" but before I spend cash I wanted to know if there were more than these two types of keys.

Are all Long or Short keys (blanks) the same? or would a 92 long be diff than a 89 long or something like hat. :-P

As a side note, since my remote has never worked, is there any ways to get a new remote that will do doors and trunk without replacing the PCU or whatever the remote mates to?

If it matters/helps, the one key I do have has/had a small "nub" button on the edge near the blade, but no other buttons.

SC300/SC400 are long keys no matter what year, no difference. There's a seller on fleabay, "callexus" that sells it for about $14 bux uncut. As for the remote, unless you get an aftermarket system, i think you're out of luck

Sweet TY for the info, just bought 2 plain uncut long blanks!
Can ANy locksmith make these if I get the key codes from a dealer or do I HAVE to go to a Lexus Dealer and have them cut the keys?

If you've got a blank and a valet key, a locksmith can simply find the missing cut and make you a master with or without a remote. Good luck trying to find one out there that is willing to do it for a reasonable price.
