I like the cornering lights on my '93. I understand the reasons to upgrade for functionality and style points, but I am a purist. I look at my vehicle as more of a time capsule. But to each there own, and that is why we have so many different great looking cars on this forum.

Converting them to legit fog lights adds so much character to the car if you ask me.

Cornering lights are functional...mostly in city driving. I really like them. I need fogs and will ADD a pair of those. The really good functional ones.
I remember when "radial tires" first came out. At least once a day I was told that my tires were low on air. I did not resolve this "problem" by getting a set of bias ply tires to replace my radials. "Other people are idiots" and I will not bend. And, yes, you can be that old and still like to do 140 out on the desert roads in a SC400.

well.. when you compare corner lights to fog lights... the fog lights just look so much sicker.. lol... a lot of cars our there add fog lights just for looks and im sure its the same for most people who covert their corners to fogs

Wow after reading all these responses...I never realized just how much aesthetic apeal fog lights had and I feel very grateful for owning a '95+ year model...And yes, I still keep getting inquires from pre-95 owners on how to turn on their foglights...and it's getting rather annoying.

I only really use them when it is indeed foggy and want other people to be able to see me (black car + fog at night = super non-awesomeness). I barely use my fogs for a few reasons...
1. My low beams (after the retrofit) are a million times brighter than the stock low beams and fogs put together (no ****)
2. Dunno in the US but in Australia it's illegal to use the fogs when it's clear (even if they are factory fitment)... $75 fine.

When I was new to my SC (and this forum) I seriously thought they were fog lights.. I had never heard-of, nor seen "corner lights."
However I thought of converting them to fog lights 'cus more illumination just seemed better (and has been, on other cars I've driven with the fogs on.)
Once I learned what they were, and turned a corner with them on, or tried to see the curb at night while parallel parking; I realized "Huh. These things are surprisingly useful.." and so now my perception is that their in-fact pretty cool; and I still have corner lights.
However, fog lights still look nice if you ask me (tasteful ones.)
I think, people are often attracted to light, or brilliance, etc. and so features that shine, (for whatever reason..) dazzle the mind, therefore having fogs gives the impression of something grander, adding to the vehicles aesthetic.
Other than that, their just a device for enhancing visibility while driving, simply..
