how to replace your stock hood lift supports...

so what exactly did you do? did you find a way to pop them off like the trunk or did you beat them out like the other guy. Curious because im tired of dam near killing myself just to check my oil and stuff,lol.

Go back and read the thread, you dont beat them out, and you dont unclip them. You have to unscrew the studs and cut them out.

I just replaced my trunk lift supports with Strong Arm (brand). Search "strongarm lift support sc400" in Amazon and it should be the first thing in the search. I paid $27 for a set. The instructions at the beginning of the thread (link above) are excellent. Never had an issue, didn't even strip a bolt.
The nut to unscrew the old support is a 12mm for sure (1995 SC400). The Strong Arm lift supports used 7/16. I did what the first guy did (in the linked the thread). Bolt the ball joint to the trunk frame first. You could even use a deep socket 7/16 to put it on which would make it a hell of a lot easier to put on. The just snap the support on. Done. Super easy.

Go to harbor freight and get a pencil torch and heat both sides of the bolt it will come free super easy they run about nine dollars the butane is about two and half dollars

Replacing the Hood Lift Supports on a GS300 is easy
I have a 2006 Lexus GS300 and I just did replaced mine after my drivers side crapped out. It was super easy. Any videos of the SC replacement?

the ball joint on the OEM ORIGINAL HOOD STRUTS have to be CUT OUT of the ball joint they DO NOT have the convenient little clip on them. it is different than most newer cars unless someone before you changed them than your lucky.

i dont know if anybody will reply but i need to change my hood supports because they dont hold up and i got somebody to give me some good ones but im not sure how to take them off, just do the thing with the angle grinder or what? its for my sc
