You have to unbolt the studs from the hood and hoodledge, then use an angle grinder to cut the struts loose from the studs, then bolt the studs back in and pop your struts back on.

I tried a five pound sledge and wooden block, ended up destroying the stock support trying to "pop" it off. So i unbolted them and cut the stud out.

The answer is yes you can reuse the studs if you buy aftermarket struts, but if you go with OEM and pay an arm and a leg you will get the studs with the struts.

its gonna depend on the kit you get.

the trunk:
one side clips in by hand and the other has the stud threaded in. you have to use the wrench to get it out. when i bought my trunk shocks they came with the new ball that threads in. after installing one on each side you pop the shocks on and done.

my friend on the other hand bought the trunk shocks somewhere else and they did not come with those pivoting *****. i took a grinder to the old one to the get the pivot thing out.

its probably the same thing for the front. stock though you have to unbolt it. aftermarket one might have the pivot ball and the shock separate so you install them first and then clip the shock in.

I just brought my sc home like two days ago and I wanted to get the leaves out from under it and that damn hood was like a workout trying to hold it up with one hand and cleaning out leaves with the other....

Unless there is a variance in the Hood struts by year on the SC's, its impossible for you to just have popped the hood struts off and popped some back on, the studs are built into the struts. You either have to remove the studs from the OEMS or get an aftermarket set that gives you studs.

UNLESSS someone had already gone through the trouble of replacing your struts, and you already had the clip on struts on there.
