92 Sc400 Modified Vs 2002 Sc430
I have a 1992 SC400 with headers, chip, exhaust, new torque converter, and rod millen intake. I check my rear-view and an SC430 was there. We turned on the same light and he pulled up next to me. He edged foward before the light could turn green and he jetted off. He stopped at the next light. I was ready this time and he pointed to the light. It was the most amazing race. I was ahead of him by a door length the entire time. This went on for about 2.5 blocks. Then we came to the next stop light. And he rulled down his window, and said "your faster but mine looks better" What a moron. I just got my car back from a list of mods and I was ready for this guy. It was a nice 430 though.

Am I the only one???
Are you kidding me? Sure, the 430 is a really nice car, it's got that super-cool roof, bigger engine, better sound system and lots of other goodies ...
But in terms of design, I sure prefer the good ol' 300/400
But maybe I'm just old fashioned.

headers???? where'd u get headers from? Are you using the WR chip or which one? I would have thought that you would have killed it. The last Car and Driver reported the sc430 with a 0-60 time of 6.4 I believe it was.

Oh, I knew Adam would pop a gasket when he about those headers, but i'm curious too marcman, are they from the Australians or a custom set? I like the SC430 body, but i'd have to say that I prefer the '92-2K, love that classic low slung long nose, short deck design, love the headlamps, the grille, the taillamps on the newer ones, the way they did the glass, all of it, I guaranf#ckingtee you these cars will be classics one day. I really don't see the new SC as a sports coupe, stay with me on this one, the newer one looks much less like it belongs on a track, I think it's very luxo and chic, but doesn't seem as 'sporty' to me, not to mention I thought they'd be a bit quicker with the 4.3 motor, but you have to admit that interior is butters. Still, I was hoping you would paste him a little better than half a car, especially out of the hole, but hey, long as it's an SC, it's all bueno.

Yes, please do tell about these headers!!
Lex Luthor hit it on the nose. The SC430 is shinier candy for the eyes, but nothing beats the sleek sporty look of the SCx00. Only downside to our car's appearance is the way the headlights look at night. I don't know if anyone feels the same, but I'd prefer the low beams to the far sides and maybe a functional inner auxiliary light (like GS400 and BMW's), instead of that useless 10w dome light we have in there. And why did the GS get hids in '98, but we didn't even get them in '00?! While I'm ******in', I also don't like these new retro/contemporary-type interiors that are springing up left and right. Maybe they just need to grow on me, like the SC430 did.

I have 90k on my SC400.... plus he was getting better starts. IF we would have been on a drag and I could be more prepared..... he would have ate my dust. The headers are custom made. They were made by a toyota motorsport company that does TUNDRAS.

marcman18,
Can you give us more details about "a toyota motorsport company"? Do they have a web site? Can you tell us your contact person? Phone number, and address?
Can you tell us the price?
What chip are you using?
Thanks,

I'd also love to get some information on that chip...
Did you have to send your ECU in with a mods list such that the result was tuned properly, or was this just a drop-in? May I ask where you purchased it?
