If i were you i wouldnt put 10k into it or anything besides maintenance , i would probably make it a DD because building up a salvage car isnt worth it, unless you plan to keep it forever.

i would usually steer away from salvage, just cuz anything might have happened to it. even if it is a 5spd. still if u get, know wut you're getting into

If you're new to the Lexus scene I suggest you hold off and find something that you wont have to spend a lot of money to get up and running.

what i am hoping for is really "steal" her, in this economy car prices has slummed down so bad, so for salvage who knows, it might go as low as couple of hundred dollars

Are you gonna buy it or just talk about it?

That damage will easily cost you 1500-2000 (could be hidden damage) at a shop to fix correctly so bid what you want and show us pics with you as owner or pass info to someone else so they might look at buying it.

who cares if it has a salvaged title, so long as mechanically, it doesn't have a bent frame and it runs/drives...

I say buy it, its not like you are looking for a return on investment any time soon, and at 2,000 or less it's a steal... 5 speed trans... sounds like a good car to throw a turbo kit on...

the only thing is that you may not be able to get full coverage insurance on a salvaged title car, but again, who cares - its cheap enough still...

i allready have a guy in mind in case i decide to pull out on her, anyhow for now its just all talk, shes in process of changing clear title to salvage as we speak, so shes not yet ready to go on sale, but like stated above i will have to perfrom close inspection on her, who knows, but god forbid she has bent frame, shell never drive or ride good, constant headache, so thats why i seem a bit like puss on her, why dump so much time, effort and $$$ on salvage

FYI i just saw '97 i believe sc3 5 spd i think in dc or va going for $6.5k, in mint shape, has great exhaust and rims, so even $2k seem a bit steep for this black beauty
