SC's have lost their value over the last few years, but if you plan on keeping it and not looking for a return, then consider it (for the "right" price of course). I honestly wouldn't pay more than 1k-2k for a salvaged SC. But 5-speeds are hard to find. Here is the breakdown on production numbers:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...n-numbers.html

If you're not in a rush, I say wait for the perfect one. Like I said, they lost their value and you're bound to find a hell of a deal for a non-salvaged, pristine one if you're patient enough. Usually a lot of people have power steering pump and window regulator problems (just a couple off the top of my head). I was quoted $1000 parts/labor for a ps pump at a Lambs. Decided to do it myself to save some money (not too hard of an install if you have a friend). In the end, you don't want to end up putting more money into a salvaged SC vs. waiting for a nice SC that could have been right around the corner. Hope this helps.

I'd just verify the reason for the "salvage" is for the physical damage and make sure what your not seeing isnt more than what ur able to deal with (verify hidden damages) and its not for flood damage.

There are alot of threads on here about the cars I urge you to read for common problems and costs associated with the repairs. This might give you a good idea what to look into and what to steer clear of.

I say buy it, if its is good condition esp if the engine/tranny is perfect then grab it! And just part it out tranny alone is quite a bit and you can make little money off the interior.

not really. you wont get much for the motor or trans.

if its salvaged you might not be able to register it in some states either. i wouldnt pay more then 2000 for it no matter what condition it is in.

last summer a buddy of mine picked up a 92 5spd hardtop sc300 in mint shape with body kit, steering wheel/quick-release, enkei 19" wheels, and eibach springs for about 3500.

right now is not a good time to buy cars to part them out unless you do it for a living.

people are selling stuff for cheaper then before but them again people also have less disposable income to spend on parts so it balances itself in a way.

Sorry for the formatting, I just copied the whole webpage and it grabbed some of the code stuff. Doesn't even show a salvage title, although never trust an autocheck or carfax completely.

Id buy it as long as you can make sure that the car is in overall good condition. Salvage title can mean anything from body damage, to flooding. For 2k or less it's a damn good deal and I would just put another 10k or so fixing it up. Plus you'll pay less for your auto insurance
