That crack doesn't look too good! I would recommend buying another light personally. Remember these lenses are almost 15-20 years old, be careful!

I've got one done now and zip-tied together so I will upload more process pictures and a complete tail once I shut it down at STARBUCKS.

The 92 guts were a B to get out and in...

Well I have a pair of 2000 tails all apart, no cracks. I was suprised, it went smooth! Will start a thread when I get farther, I am gathering some more parts.

Ahww, I thought it was because I had mad skills!

Being new could help, the 97+ have a different glue, its a black instead of the gray. seams to harden back up faster and really holds when set. The 96 set I did previous was a little more forgiving it seemed.

The real trick is getting the Keyhole backing to seperate without cracking the lens, if you do it right its no problem.

Sorry about the delay everyone! I am home and I HAVE to finish the last tail tonight before work in the morning. I will do my best to video document and or take pictures for you all. As for the crack, FOR NOW I used some of that tub sealant stuff around the base of where it started and light crazy glue on the crack. hopefully that will work.

@ ScottURnot - Yeah the keyhole was good to get off. when you put it back on you can press it back on the goo if it's still soft.
My main issue with the crack was the first separation this old school goo was a righteous battle . On top of that the clear-guts of the 1992s were WAY harder to get out than the 1995s (maybe I needed it warmer). Along with being a pain to get back in.

I HAVE SEEN THEM- AND YES, THEY ARE A GAME CHANGER.

I cannot divulge any details of what I am even talking about until the 'Official' thread is started by Scott (This weekend?), No one is prepared... NO ONE!

Default Zach's tails

Zach,

Your 97-2000 murdered out tails look absolutely awesome. SO, if Scott improves on this, then they will be quite nice!
