I'm sorry to say it, but as I shop around I see that $3500 seems to be the going run for an SC of that age. For The $6500 you're hoping for, I could just about get a '97 around here.

But that absolutely sucks that they'd total a car out for keying...

Just paint? Hell a grand will fix that, buy that thing back and use the rest of the payoff for mods. It doesn't matter if it has a salvage title, you'll have little to nothing in it.

If you dont care about having a salvaged title let them total it out and you can buy it back from them for super cheap then but a 97+ take off all your good parts and there you go

Well honestly thats the plan.

I'm going to put the auto couture kit on it and paint it starfire pearl.

My dad owns a bodyshop back on the east coast so I've gotta get it across country this summer.

Still only be left with about $2000.... which is enough to get the kit.

But I'd like to squeeze another $500-$1000 bucks at least out of the insurance company.
OR...
Not have the thing total.

Yeah they got every panel down to the base primer.

The estimate came to 6500, they're rewriting it and faxing me a copy of it so I can tell them what is old, and what is new damage.

Hopefully readjust the estimate to keep it under the total loss threshold.

What was the year and miles of your sc?

well before i went to insurance i got a few quotes from body shops for $4,600 but i think that's a little high for a normal repaint, I was told that $4,600 my adjuster would have to write my car off as a total loss which seems reasonable to me my kbb i'm sure is like 7k or less, I just took the 3k for now i'll either have it repainted for $2,500 from a local shop, or i can fight with my insurance to cover a $4,600 paint job and maybe have a salvaged title but i don't think it's worth it.. $3k seems fair to me

my car is a 1995 with 145k, i'm sure the "rare" factor of my black interior 5spd, with full 97+ exterior means nothing to insurance,
or that i have HKS, Volk, greddy, and Cwings stuff on my car doesn't matter to them..

here's the link to my Keyed pics

sorry for your loss. at first i was very surprised you are still buying full coverage with 500 deductable, then i realized all the mods that you did, and then i read more, almost none of those are covered. what a bummer! definately change your insurance company after this.

You dont have to accept their offer.
after a while the adjuster will want to close it, keep buggin em
you can eventually have a median appraisal done to the car and they should give you a bit more.
