Talking Changing The Hood On My Baby

Heya everyone. I'm kind of stuck trying to take off my stock hood in order to throw on a Flared Carbon Fiber Hood by Seibon. I know I have to remove the Hood Shocks first, but I don't know how. After that I know I need to take out the window washer fluid lines by pretty much just popping them out. After that I take out the four bolts attaching to the hinges in order to take the hood off. And then I'm good to go on removing it and placing the new one in and reattaching everything. Now you see, I know how to do everything, except taking off the shocks. I don't see any visible spots to unscrew or pop them out from. So, I need help here, because it would be great if I were able to figure it out with some help. Also, the last part of the question is this: When I manage to get the hood shocks off, will I be able to place them back on the new hood, or no?

-Thanks
-Matt

u will need a 12mm wrench to take the stock hood shocks off then just remove the washer squirts from the top side of the hood and unolt the screw that are in the hinges and thats all install and reprat these steps in reverse

If you have GOOD hood shocks ( don't sag or anything), then they might not work too well for the CF hood. The CF hood is too light so the shocks are too strong. An option is to trade your good shocks with someone who has blown shocks

Get blown struts or a hood prop.

Thanks everybody, really useful info you all gave. The only problems I still have is HOW to pop them off first. I mean, do I just take the wrench to them? Or do I pop something out first, because they have a ball shaped edge to them. SO I'm still a bit lost.

If they are like most props. you just pry with a screwdriver, maybe with a rag so you wont scratch it.

I use an 8 Iron golf club to prop my hood up. also useful in self defense situations

When I had a CF trunk, i had brand new trunk shocks on it, and it could fling a Poland spring bottle clear across the car. lol

It was covered already.

use a 12mm open ended wrench on the ends, either where it attaches to the car, or where it attaches to the hood.
