I am almost afraid to ask.....

I know that my Ex's 2001 Neon had a code. Mobile locksmith came to the site where the car was parked (lost the key at a water park) and cut/programmed the key right there. Honestly, I found it quite odd that a car with manually cranking windows had such a complex key, and my '95 Lexus didn't.
Oh well. BTW, it cost $135 for 2 new keys to be made with my AAA discount.

ive done a ton of remote starts in my day and have never seen a dodge/chrysler/jeep with manual options and a chipped key.

I know it had a chip. The locksmith showed me how the car would run for like 2 seconds without the chip activated before shutting itself off. An anti-theft feature I assume. Once it was programmed, it would run fine.

When I bought my car it only came with 1 key, and a local dealer quoted me a little over $300 for a cut and programmed copy of the remote master key. Sewell charges half that for a cut key with no programming.
The 98-00 Keys have built in immobilizers and trunk release, so they are kind of a rip off.
92-97 Have the same Master key and valet key
92-95 Have the same Remote Master key (button on the side that can unlock the car) *Requires programming
96-97 Have a seperate remote to lock/unlock the door *requires programming
98-00 Share the same remote master, master key, and valet key *All require programming.

5sp jzz knows what hes talking about, take your vin and title and go to dealer, i had same prob while buying a stolen integra, no keys what so ever, but in my case i changed the ignition from another teg. Now i have 1 set of keys to open trunk and doors and another to crank it, if duplicating key theme dont work i suggest swaping oem ignition from wrecked or so sc and tell dealers to suck their thumb

Locate the “on” positive and negative wires in the steering column. They should run up to the ignition tumbler and be color-coded. Pull those wires from the ignition, strip a portion of each and twist them together. The car will now be on and ready for ignition.
