Cluster Issue (not about needles)
For whatever reason, my cluster doesn't seem to be grounded properly. Don't know why, can't figure out why, whatever. The needles light up and so does the back light, the needles just aren't functioning. Anyways, on the back of cluster there are some screws in the back. I have one wired and now my tach works. I tried another it made a spark and then all the lights blew out in the cluster. (any info on repair would be nice). But I have a spare cluster, and before I go testing them again and risking another blow out, does any one know which one means what. Or what the main ground for the cluster is. ( 2 different motor setups, aem, singles upgrade dash swap etc.. have been done since the car was purchased, so some where in there, something went wrong)
Thanks in advance. Id love to know how fast I'm going.

It's not his cluster bulbs.
There is a fuse I believe in the kick panel that supplies something to the cluster's main power, but I don't know which fuse. Check them all.
As far as how modified your setup is, there's no telling beyond that. Start tracking back on the harness.

Nothing in the harness has changed other than the use of a Tach Adapter, (I still have the stock stereo too) I'll check the fuses again. I will mess with screws on the blown cluster some more. I'm gonna have to drive the car for the MPH check. I will throw in a gallon of gas to check if the fuel level has been fixed. For the temp, I tried one of screws and the needle worked but it went all the way up. I doubt I'm actually overheating, with a completely new cooling system installed and adequate coolant.

Hey, let's keep this one alive.
My tach is not working after the 1jz swap. I tried the msd tach adapter and that didnt work, and Dr Tweak also bypassed R73 on the back of the cluster and still no tach.
We ran a continuity check to test the tach circuit from the ignitor down to the body plugs, then from the ignitor all the way to the cluster connector, and the wiring seems to be good.
My tach worked perfectly before the swap.

Update.....While testing a cluster all the lights (except the clock and lower lights{but not odometer)) went out. SO I have no light light all, needles or background. Tried my 2 different clusters both nothing. Used my fuse tester and all came out ok.(driver side and engine bay)
Any ideas? Anyone have a wiring schematic of where every wire goes?
