92-94 Tails on a 97 SC

I have a 97 SC and I want to trade for any of the earlier years SC's tailights, but some people have mention to me that I need to make a relay box and that it's not as straight foward as it is to upgrade. This doesn't make sence, but a few people have said it, so I must look into it. I am wondering if any 97+ owners have ever used earlier SC models' tailights. If all you need is the harness to upgrade, why would it be different to do basicly the same thing with a 97 SC?
This is not a for trade thread, sorry

Its not just harness, its the flasher relay. If you put 92-94 tails, i believe it will be EXTREMELY slow.
I'm looking for tails.. if you want, i'll trade my 92-94s for your 97-00 tails![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Now, I'm not sure if its as straight forward as the upgrade from 92-94's but all you have to change in the flasher relay is the capacitor. So maybe if we switch capacitors, or if you get the old capacitor and put it in yourself, im guessing it will work?

So does that mean 97 tails flash faster on 92 SC's?
I already have a trade pending, with cash ofcourse![Wink](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I guess I am going to have to swap the lights from my 92 to my 97 to see for my self what the deal is. I've tried searching, but I am being impatient right now

Yes, thats what the hyperblink fix is for.
For example, if i were to get 95+ tails, it would blink FASTER then normal. So, I'm guessing if you "downgrade" then if will blink SLOWER then normal.
edit: just wondering, why are you going to 92-94's?

You cant swap out the flasher unit. The 92-94 chassis isn't compatible with the 95+ chases. Only 95-96-97+ swap. Trust me, i have a 97 unit from aliga that came with my 98 tails but it cant be installed.
The real question is what will happen if you switch out tails. On the 92 tails, you have 3 turn light bulbs while on the 97, you only have 1. I know the car thinks when the load is low, a bulb is burned out and gives a you hyperblink. I'm not even sure if the car cares is the load is to high. Odds are your gonna get some kind of turn signal error and the check bulb light indicator. Its not worth losing the ability to know when your bulbs are out imo.
BTW i saw your post in the for sale section and thought you were crazy. I didnt want to ruin that thread but on a personal note i think going 92 from 97 is a huge mistake. You can spray paint them all you want but they still look "old" at night. For instance the parking light is one weird box to the side of each tail light. While on the 95s or 97s, its a nice line which matchs the flow of the trunk and the accentuates the widebodyness of the sc. Like-wise with the brake light, on the 92s its separated by the reverse light so you get this nasty gap. Unlike the 95 or 97 lights where you get nice clean flow.
Are you telling me you really want your car to look like this at night?

How? The rectangle parking light, that bleeds over the reverse light, and brake light square both look so unnatural on the SC. They completely clash with the SCs streamlined body. And even worse they look like the OLD SCHOOL, same style as the old ES(gen 1/2), camry (gen 1/2), numerous hondas(acuras). And they are almost identical to the 1995 toyota corolla, except streched.
Toyota made a huge improvement in the 95 tails, which explains the drastic boost in sales.
Look:

It looks so much more streamlined. The 97+s are even better since now the top and bottom of the tail lights no longer look like separate pieces.
