College student project, open to suggestions :)
So I finally gathered enough funds to bring my car into the body shop.
I recently turned 20, and I drive a 1993 Toyota Soarer. I'm going to college so I'm breaking my piggy bank doing this project, but hopefully the end result will be worth it.
What I'm doing this season is to try and fix all the body defects and mecanics of the car (engine, suspension, brakes, etc)
The car was brought to the body shop today and the expected
Due Date: May 8th, 2009 is when it'll be back on the road.
UPDATE: Progress Pictures on page 2
UPDATE: 3 more pictures added on page 3
- SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!
I need to pick the colour! I'm 100% I want white pearl, but the different white pearls out there are making my head ache. Suggestions anyone?
So far I'm stuck on
- 2006+ IS250 Starfire Pearl (077)
- 2004+ Toyota Sienna Artic Frost White Pearl (071)
- 2005+ Nissan 350Z Pikes Peak White Pearl
What I'm looking for is a pure white with a hint of pearl (i don't like the pink pearls)
Exterior Parts used:
Complete Vertex replica Bodykit (Front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper)
97+ fog lights
97+ front grill
95-96 rear tail lights
Here's the car from before. Too bad I don't have pictures of the scrapes on the roof. It was on the top of the container when it was shipped from Japan.

color? its all about the BMW alpine white...period. if you get it done right its game over.
is the car already at the body shop getting prepped?
if not i would suggest take that money and put it into school. much better investment that will pay itself off over and over again down the lines. you can get a paint job at any time.

Yeah car's already in the shop, this car is the 4th car I've owned, and I'm hoping to keep it for another 4-5 years minimum. I need to fix the body anyways because someone scraped up against me while I was parked.
Also, the roof needs to be painted anyways, since it's exposed metal, it'll eventually rust. Dents and dings on the car will also be pulled out at the same time.
Here's a picture of the bumper..
edit: he also scraped against my rear fender, notice the top left corner.

Yeah, I'm going to sell the lip.
Main reason for selling the lip is because the shop is cutting my bumper in half, and cutting the fiberglass vertex copy in half and moulding them together. This way the fitment will be perfect and there won't be as much stress on the bumper. If I do this, then hitting something with the bumper won't have as much damage as the conventional fiberglass bumpers.

I took a look at the pikes peak pearl, for some reason, it's not white enough. I want something that is almost pure white and has that "special" shine to it.. yeah i'm picky...

Also, don't worry, I have a big chunk of money that I don't touch and is dedicated for school.
I don't know how it works in the US, but here in Canada, the school fees are not too expensive.
I pay 1 semester (half a year) it's $140 canadian. A lot is covered by the government.
