Default Column Lock Bypass

Ok,

I've been researching aftermarket RFID push button start systems for a few months now and there seems to be a problem. Almost all of them require the steering column lock to be bypassed/disabled. Apparently this is pretty common in 'Vettes, especially the newer C5's and C6's because they're prone to locking up. I'm guessing ours is electric (v. mechanical) but does anyone know for sure? Anyone have an idea of how to bypass?

Any help greatly appreciated.

edit: the main one i've been looking at says an electric one can be wired to work with the system.

theres a lock bypass button on the key cylinder. not sure how you would have it held down though.
