bellaire texas. its inside the loop houston PM me. I found an 1uz fe engine for 900 online (it says 1992 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997 Lexus SC 400 Engine Engine Longblock 4.0L VIN U 4th digit 1UZFE eng 8 cyl)... there were literally no changes in the sc until 97 because they changed the grill for better air flow... i use Uzi's auto shop on bellaire blvd. guy does great work and he was quoting me on a new engine + labor and for that price i would have gone hunting for another sc. the person online only sells this engine with under 90k miles on it so the mileage isn't horrible and a 1uz will last forever unless you get it water locked like i did...

I PMed you back. I hope your joking about that first line and the water. Water is not supposed to go into the combustion chamber durrr here is a example of it in a boat. Please don't pull a newb line....

Its better to replace the whole engine. Compared to having a short block and taking the whole thing apart and buying gaskets that would be worth more then the whole motor. Buy a long block instead of a short block.

if you can get a 95-97 motor, they revised the cam profiles for a bit better powerband and it's compatible with everything else in the 92-94

IS the wiring harness different between a 95 and a 97 or is just the ECU different?

Any other differences between 95-97 1uz?

OP- I've hydro locked many motors as I love to rally. In most cases you can pull the spark plugs and crank the motor. It shoots water 30 feet high. After that, put in the plugs back in and go!

I have however bent a rod hydro locking a motor. I found a 27K mile 1uz engine and trans here on the classifieds and paid $500 for both. The early 1uz's are a dime a dozen.

Get the estimate reduced so your car won't total. Take the money and get it fixed yourself.

The ECU's are diferent 92-94 OBD1, 95 changed ECU with different cold start injection design still OBD1, 96 and up OBD2. You cannot run a 92-94 ECU on a 95 and up motor I have tryed this not worth the time. The harnesses are different also. There would be to much detail to explain why ,but it is. Need any more info?

well the car only has liability insurance because my dad says it wouldn't pay to have it where my car is insured even though I think it is..... so if i got a 97 engine the harness would also be different?

i only have the car for 6-7 more days before my mechanic hauls it off the lot and he has already found a person to buy it from me for 700 to scrap for parts...

hmm I'm selling my 1UZ for $350.. but its a '92. Used engines are pretty cheap on the forums. Aliga quoted me under $1k for a 1UZ VVTI back when I was looking for an engine to have as backup. The best deal I ever saw was a whole 99 blk/blk being sold for $1k. engine was perfect with 65k.. Irrelevant, but the seller ended up selling the whole interior for $200.. I met the buyer. lucky bastard. But yea, used engines are cheap

I could use more info on that, so if I may please pick your brain.

I'm putting a 97 1uz engine and trans into my 95 Sc400. I'm more or less wondering what snags I might run into during the swap. Slight differences/Interchange on the parts.

I'm guessing the OBD-2 harness is different and I'll likely have to pull the engine, swap harnesses, and install the newer engine.

Trying to take the most sensible and easiest/best approach to the swap.

P.S. I have the wiring harness and computer for the 97 engine.
