Cool

I have only raced the ones that will race me (HonDuhs w/ Vtechs or Accord V6's, Acuras [even a CL-S ... driver must have sucked, damn things an easy automatic w/ 260 ponies], LOTS of VWs [seems that lot has something to prove, but can't], and a Mazda Miata stick [he initiated and was winding high, but it really was no contest]).

I have been approached by many MUCH better cars (both import & domestic) in my Stang ... Viper (beat him b/c he could not navigate traffic ... lucky for me), RX-7 (killed me on the high-end), Ram-Air Firebird (also got me on the high end), and a late-model Supra turbo (slapped me silly). Though, now that the car runs 11's in stocker trim, no-one wants to race it anymore.

My coupe is NOT all that fast, but I can drive it like one mad b1tch. I have drag raced a national circuit for years in my Stang, so I have the reaction and shifting advantage, and as most know, good driving is a big part of winning.

PS: Your previous cars ROCK! When I had my first car ('86 escort), my Mom's BF let me borrow his '85 300ZX. I could not believe 2nd gear could hit 60MPH. Compared to my little Ford, the Z was a stylin' rocket ship!! The only car I liked better that I had been in was an '86 Mustang GT, but only for the speed ... the Nissan had much better interior style.

Wait what did you do to your GT that held together with a Trans Am? Those things destroy Mustangs stock for stock.

The only stock import I've ever raced is a CL Type-S(low) and beat it handily. I ignore other imports almost entirely, and Supras or RX7's are rare up here.

i couldnt agree with all of you any more.

first, honda rice burners take their 16k inline fours with 140 hp. They spend about 12 gs on butt ugly rims, nasty sounding exhausts, and of coarse, the ugly strobe lights and the two mexican girls sitting side by side on the back window. Then, they put the stupid chinese letters on the front of the car- disgusting. Then they spend another 12 gs on the engine, boost their hp to around 200, and still get a 14 second car.

Second, Roush Mustangs are piles of crap. Stage III might be a good one, but thats if your willing to push around 50k for a car that is slower than a 48k corvette, not to mention, isnt safe at all, and looks like crap! If you go up to a mustang, kick the side skirts on it... theyll move as you kick them, and i mean theyll move like someone rode their civic into them.

And Damn! You got how much miles to the tank on your sc?? Thats amazing as i think the most ive gotten on a 2000 is something like 275, and i consider that incredible.

I drove straight there, not stopping, without the AC on, all beverages or food bought before hand, and only that little run with the Rousch and the BMW. By the way, for those who drive long distances from time to time. Audio books are the way to go. I listened to Tom Clancy's Executive Orders on the way down, and it makes time FLY by. Music gets a little old every now and then. Can get them at the library (they are almost always there because no one checks them out) or at Barnes and Noble. I prefer the tape so I don't have to change out the cd magazine, plus it always starts where I left off.

He has a smaller I-6 engine and a 5-speed manual. Much more efficient setup and thus better MPG than your V-8 5-speed auto. The most I dare to squeeze out of my tank is 290 miles, but that is with lot's of city driving. And my freeway driving is nominally 80mph.

Audio books. Good idea. As soon as I get my damn license back, I'll have to try that. Though the biggest pain I've encountered on long drives is the uncomfort with my seats. They are too stiff and unsupportive, but maybe it's just my posture. Those GS and ES seats are amazingly comfortable. Different type of leather too. I wish I could swap out for a motorless version of those seats.

BTW, welcome to CL and nice car Toog4me. Wish I had a 2000 SC400 at 16.

lex400sc: there must be something wrong with your seats, the seats in my car are better than my office chair at home. I can't think of anything I'd rather sit in.

I love my seats, much more than anything at home. I am 6'2", so the power lumbar is just a few inches too low to be of much use. I also almost never speed more than 5 over. No counter measures, high insurance, and patience keep me from the lead foot other than around town.

I have a naturally aspirated "Stock" class (by NMRA specifications) '92 LX hatchback.

Heads and intake are stock (ported & polished), Cam is under .500 lift on intake and exhaust (mild Ford Racing E-cam), no p/s, no a/c, pro-shifted T-5 close-ratio tranny, and one hell of an engine tuner (Mike of All-Throttle Performance ... www.ultra-suite.com/all-throttle). At the track with 10" slicks and 3150 lbs with me in it, she runs 11.9 at 113MPH. She ran a 14.2 when bone stock, and I got her into the low 13's pretty quickly, which is what the Ram Air birds do. Again, the Stangs are great at the low end, but the Firebird took me on the high end at that time no problem. I would love to find another one with my car's trim now!

My next project after my house will be to up the HP on my SC300 though. It is a great ride (and I too LOVE the seats), it just needs some more UMF ... ATI Procharger has a nice set-up for it. The turbo would be more efficient, but near twice the price as I see it for the setup, custom tubing, and electronics. And I just love the instant horsepower of a supercharger!

Interesting that you stayed with the WRX

I ran one on a roll with my intake and had my *** handed to me; on a roll. Off the line it would have been a joke.

Cool races that you had camshaft, but I won't consider the Viper a race by navigating traffic better. Thats rice-racin and also very dangerous and stupid.

Glad you like my 85 It was my first real sports car. I loved it to death and thought it was fast as hell. Until I ran a LT1 Z28 and had my *** handed to me. Then I bought the 90TTZ and it all went downhill from there lol

Toog4me is only 16 and drives a 2000 SC4? damn. I bet you can get all the chicks. They love to see a kid drivin a Lexus. I'm glad I didnt get my lex till I turned 18. I was way to immature at 16 (just me personally) and didnt realize the value of a car. It took a 4,000 fender bender to wise me up

FYI,

Roush Stage I (i assume its 96 and up) should be a Mustange GT not a V6. Mustang GT should have about 225 to 260 hp depending which year. The best way to test it out is on the track.

Actually, I was quite suprised by the WRX. We both spun like hell, and it was in light traffic, but you could still tell that the car is basically a turbo 4 in a beer can with 4 wheels strapped to it. Guy was husky, and it was leaning a little.

Anyone know the link to the Rousch site? I looked everywhere, and all I could get was the NASCAR site.
