Dremel Tool?

Dremel is a high-speed rotary tool that runs variable up to about 6000 rpm. It is good for SMALL SCALE cutting, sanding, polishing, etc. It's about 2" in diameter and about 6" long maybe? I've got one and it's awesome. Be sure to buy the Dremel - the Black and Decker Wizard looks the same but has a flaw in the design and the shaft and head disconnect easily inside the unit ($10 fix every 6 months). I've got one of those too.
I got mine at Home Depot, but Menards has better prices on them. You can do quite a bit with the little cutting blades. They are fragile, but strong at the same time. I cut an entire exhaust pipe off my old MR2 with 4 cutting wheels! It was pretty easy! That's the biggest project I've tackled with it though. Most stuff it does is small stuff, like cutting nail heads, precision polishing on valve covers, etc.

you could but I wouldn't recommend it...Dremel really was designed to be a high speed low resistance type device...The resistance you create while polishing could burn out that little (but high rpm) motor...But, while I wouldn't recommend it, doesn't mean I wouldn't do it...

Unless you plan on doing alot of detail polishing/cutting/drilling of very small (plastic, wood, aluminum)parts,it's not one of my choices for that type of machine.
Most wheel polishing could be done by hand in a shorter amount of time than with the Dremel tool.
They're irreplaceable for certain jobs, but I very rarely find a use for the one we have.

I polished some stainless, bathroom, wheelchair helper rails that were brushed to a chrome-like shine with various sandpaper, and rouge compound that was all purchased at Home Depot.
Are you sure that you have stainless rims?
If they're aluminum, the process would be the same;start with a file, then polish with finer sandpaper until you can successfully polish with some aluminum polishing compound.
