Purchased a cream puff '93 sc300 for my daughter back in Early Feb. She was O.K. with the car at first, but quickly came to really like it. She at first thought it was to old, but came to appreciate it's luxury after riding in friends cars that cost the same as hers.

Well, on wednesday some joker pulled, or attempted to pull, a U-turn in front of her on a major 2 lane and she T-boned him. Her and my younger daughter were fine, just shook up pretty good. Both bags deployed, doing their job perfectly. Younger daughter recieved a nice rug type burn on the side of her face, along with a busted inner upper lip from her braces. Complete front end of car was pushed down and into the engine, with passenger front fender going behind (inside) the door and hitting the hinges. Hood crinkled straight up into the air. Preliminarily, it looks to be totaled.

I was the third owner, car had 88,500 miles when I bought it, and as of the wreck it has 92,500 miles. I payed $3,500.00 for the car, and dropped $950.00 into a new A/C system. All leather was rip free, everything worked (I fixed the tilt/telescopic thanks to CL), paint was more than acceptable, and complete maintenance history was avaliable from Lexus.

She has already told me she wants another SC just like this one. The 16 year old vehicle does not bother her one bit. She was able to see how safe this car was for her and her sister, and both want SC300's now. Wish me luck looking for a replacement....

Good to hear they are ok, but expected though. We don't have a fatality record in the Sc if properly restrained. Once we did hear of someone flying out of the car he had car jacked when he wrecked it. seat belt.... not a bad idea in a stolen car.

LEXUSDAD, glad to hear they walked away from it. Better a busted lip and rug burn than a loved one's ashes sittin on a mantle in an urn. SC's are built like tanks. All that weight is there for a reason.

Glad everyone is OK, The car is totalled, i can already tell you that, however try to keep it, especially if you are planning on 2 more as the parts will come in VERY handy especially interior!!!

bit of advice...if your planning on looking for another...keep the wrecked one around for a little while... unripped leather etc is hard to come by in these! good luck w/the search

Actually we do have a fatality in SC300. A local guy with two of his friends died from a head on hit. The other car crossed the median and hit the SC300 at 130 mph. The other car's driver survived.

Thanks for the concern for the kids guys, they are the most important thing. Good idea about keeping the wrecked one a while to possibly scavenge parts, I didn't think about that. And yes, my daughters got a good lesson in Physics concerning motion and weight.

P.S. The other vehicle was a Full size Ford Bronco. Hit at the front part of the front wheel well. Fender, bumper, grille, tire, and most likely front differential for him.

try to find her a 98+ sc400, she'll like it even more! if not, any sc400 will be an upgrade from the sc300

Amini, it was the other persons. For her, I will try to stay with the 300 for insurance and piece of mind.

YeA 2, when she first saw it after we bought it, joy and excitement were definently on the low side. But it didn't take them long to begin to appreciate it. They are only 22 months apart (oldest 16 will be 17 next month, younger turned 15 in March) and as todays kids can be, at times their expectations are artificially high. When mom and dad brought home a 1993 model car, she (they) thought it was old. Little did they understand our reasoning........

as far as safety, you can't ask for much more than the tank that is the SC. I'm 22 but i hope i can get my hands on an SC when i have kids and they're old enough to drive.

Amini9, that is the EXACT reason I bought one. A good friend back in the day had a 94 5sp that I would often drive. I was very impressed with the protection they offered and specifically looked for a sc300 when she was going to be driving.
