unless he does what some young/stupid subaru drivers do and take turns at 100mph because they think awd makes them invincible...

Unless you have a steady, well paying job, or parents that will help you out, I wouldn't buy an SC as a first car. They're nice cars, but expensive to fix, regardless of what some of these people say. Of course my idea of expensive could be much different than yours. Mine was in excellent condition when I bought it, but it's had it's fair share of problems since then. Just my two cents.

My friend in michigan just got himself a "sports" car. Guess what he got? An EVO, the sc/supra/240 just arent practical year round cars. I know this is your first car so you are going to get swept up in emotion and all you are going to be thinking about is "me,me,me'. But as you get experience, you get wiser. Ask yourself this do you want to die at the age of 16 or possible kill someone else and go to jail. Or hell even total someone elses car and be responsible to pay for that damage. Do yourself a favor and get a FWD or AWD car. RWD is not what you want with 0 experience, let alone driving in rain/snow.

im going to agree with Ryeno here..unless you are experienced..which even that doesnt solve anything..rear wheel drive is not good for a new driver living in a state where there is a lot of snow. Im 17..learned to drive a manual transmission on my uncles 02 Firebird Trans Am (550 rwhp) when I was 13, then our 1941 Dodge Military truck 3 speed, 2006 Porsche 911, and multiple others before I was 16, and I still managed to lightly spin, which turned into a big spin, and slammed into a curb in the snow. Do yourself a favor..and wait on the SC. No matter how much experience you have, RWD in snow is bad news.

Thanks for the wise words...

I guess I should look for newer fwd cars now, since they are ultimately cheaper.

I'm looking at 1) Integra's ( white )
2) Eclipse ( How is the aftermarket compared to an integra? )
3) RSX, which is really the only FWD car that I really like
4) 3000GT ( VR-4 is too expensive tho )

Any more "nice" FWD cars?

steer clear of the 3000gt...all the people i have known that have had them have had huge problems. plus crankwalk is an issue with them as well (i think?)

"Down here I see alot of people who only drive their nice sports car on weekends and when it doesn't rain.

Obviously if they don't drive it through snow storms and keep the car clean, it wont rust.

Their is a HUGE difference in what good condition is for a weekend car and a daily driver. For the vast majority of people the sc is a DD not a weekend car.

To the OP dont even think about performance and your first car. Just get yourself someone cheap and reliable like a honda accord or a toyota camry. Learn how to drive first and then in a year or two either sell that car and get yourself a good awd car like an EVO or buy a sc300 or a 240 for the summer/proformance car while keeping that FWD car for the snow/rain.
