Question To those who've done a retro.....

A few questions to those who have done a HID retrofit on their SC.

1) How much of a difference did you see from testing the bare projector to lighting up the projector behind the headlight lens?

2) When the projector was correctly aimed (height-wise), was the projector centered through the chrome shroud?

3) Anyone have a problem with the light being projector though the bottom curve of the headlight lens? Is there anyway to overcome this?

I'm asking because I'm working on my retro and when the I placed the lens on the headlight my cutoff and output was diminished pretty drastically. When the beam is about level at 25ft, the projector is kind of sitting low in the shroud and the beam being partially projected through that curve (Why would they put a curve in the front of the projector?!) Help! I put too much work into this to have the lens kill my output.

you can deline part of the lends that the light hits...you can even sand them down thinner to allow for more output. IMO with a delined lens I don't see any noticable difference in output compared to OEM HID cars with the same projectors

I already did a partial deline (the circle in front of the projector). My problem is that the beam is hitting the front bottom curved portion and it's distorting my cutoff and output. When I hold the delined portion of the lens in front of the beam, there isn't that much distortion but when the lens is fitted onto the housing, the light travels through that curved part at the bottom and kills the cutoff.

Take some pictures of it sitting together.

When I did mine, I used TSX projectors and did not have a problem like that.

move the projectors forward/backward and/or up& down.

When i got my old 400 its projector was aimed to low causing that problem, moving it upward actually helped fix that. Remember the lower a car is (sc v ranger rover) the more straight you can aim the headlight.

Can't move it any further forward because the shroud is in the way. And the distortion occurs even when the beam is aimed a little higher than level.

I didn't want to reveal anything yet but if it might led to a possible solution.....

As you can see, there's not much room to move it up. Would moving it up on the bracket make a difference (if I even have room), or does moving it up and down with the adjusters have the same effect? I didn't have the oem shroud in the pic but when it's there the projector sits fairly low in the oem shroud.

Anybody have any pics, where this problem didn't occur, to compare?

that might be your problem right their.

Here is my oem projector as you can see the projector is basically in the middle and sticks out of the oem shroud.
