Ever since I have owned the car (93 SC400) it has been HOT. Like it is always hot inside. I noticed that the center console gets really hot to the tough like at the base of the stick shifter and down the sides of the console and such.
I have had the trany checked and it is ok so I don't think it is heating things up like that.
Any other ideas what this could be?
BTW, there seems to ALWAYS be hot air pumping out the vents down under the dash, in the winter that's no big deal but in summer it gets annoying and I hate using my AC but on long drives on hot days it's annoying. The car never overheats and has plenty of good fresh coolant in it.

Mine's got the same thing going on. The center console thing is (from what I hear) from the tranny getting hot and is normal. My vents also blow warm air so I generally just keep them closed via the recirculate button rather than the from the outside button. Opening the windows is good enough for me.

I wondered the same thing after the 1st time I experienced this a few weeks after I got mine. Did a search and voila. Apparently it's completely normal.

welcome to owning an SC...a trans cooler wont do much for the heat on the center console/floorboard but it would help a little..you have to remember that the transmission case and exhaust are both in that general area, so you have 2 heat sources under the car emitting heat that is rising into the transmission tunnel. if you really want to cut back on the heat, pull the carpet out and get some universal fire wall insulation and install it on the tunnel in side the car then stretch the carpet back over it

I have a 95 SC4 and my center console/ebrake area doesn't really get that hot, only slightly warm.
If hot air goes through the vents even when it's set to recirculate, it's probably the actuator arm that is stuck open for the heater core valve.
