Default SC400 Engine Bay temperature

How hot does the SC400 engine bay get? I'm planning to use plexiglass for the BFI mod for the top plate and the side plate. I read that the maximum temperature at which the acrylic plastic can be subjected to for any period of time is 180 degrees F to 200 degrees F. The material softens when heated to temps above 260 degrees F. So is plexiglass safe in the engine bay? Thanks in advance!

the most harm it would do is loose its shape and/or melt.
you could also get a thermometer and check the temps out that way.
why are you trying to use plexiglass? just so its see through?

I'm using plexiglass because I can't find any other types of plastic sheets that I could use and I can find plexiglass sheets easily. It would be great if you can recommend any other types of materials that are easily accessible for this application. Thanks!

what people recommend is abs plastic.
I just looked it up and it has about the same temp rating about 140-200 degrees F.
so I would say it would probably work.

The reason people use the black ABS plastic though is because it looks like the plastic that toyota uses from the Factory for that clean OEM look.

I kinda want to see yours so post pics of it if you do it.
Dont forget to take off the thin layer of cover film that comes on most plexiglass,
because that will for sure melt.
