Default 95 SC400 or 93 SC300 5spd?

I've been shopping for a black sc300/400 for quite some time now. If it came down to a stock '95 Sc400 Blk/Blk Gold Edition with about 150,000 miles or a '93 SC300 5spd with 170,000 miles Blk/Tan with 97 front conversion, which would you pick? They are both selling for roughly the same price (~$4500), at about the same exterior and interior condition, and clean title. Or should I wait for better deals?

Between those two, the 95 has lower mileage and the more rare black interior... sure you don't get the 97+ front bumper - but getting that is a lot easier than getting a whole complete black interior. +97 "front conversion" is basically bumper, grille, and fogs IIRC.

THEN AGAIN I'm guessing the 95 is an auto? That might change it up a little, I prefer 5-speed personally.

get the SC400, swap in a 5spd, and make a beast out of it.

i would get the 95...lower mileage the right interior..97 conversion can be done hell of alot simpler then black interior. if youre gona swap it youre gona wana get an r154. if youre gona keep the NA 2j then w58 are everywhere for like 250/300 bucks.

some decent conditions black front seats alone will cost you that much or more. lets not even get into the rest of the stuff if you can even find it.

Question on wether you want a manual or not, I would go sc400. Faster in stock trim.

LOL, it's a tough choice. I do prefer a manual and the converted style, but I suppose you guys are right in that those things are easier to acquire as compared to the black interior and the lower mileage. BUT that also means that I'd have to put in more time and money to get the sc400 the way I want it.

Is it a fair price for either? I want to know that I'm getting my money's worth, though I figured that I would be paying a California premium...

Thanks for all your responses.

AH - ok, how about this: what's your plans? that might help narrow it down... i.e. 1J? 2J? stock? daily driver? show queen? dori dori? How exactly would you "want it"?

if youre patient you can get a better price. i got my 95 DWP under 150k for 1700 bucks. granted it had some dings and the interior has seen better days but still a hell of a deal.

then again it didnt have black interior or 5 speed.

A refined daily driver? There are some specific things that I'd change (the front conversion and a 5spd swap, for example), but I tend to like things clean and stock. That's the direction I'm going with the SC. At least for now...

definitely the 400 then....enough power to be more fun then a stock 300 without messing with the motor.

get a w58 for like 250 bucks. some decent wheels and suspension and youll have a nice DD.

manual. hands down. the only thing nice about the 400 is the black interior. For that price you can find it all day.
finding a clean sc3 with a 5 spd for 4.5k, and it has an upgraded front bumper is a damn good deal.
Unless you have no interest in driving a stick, its hardly a decision.
Just make sure that everything lines up, and that the bumper wasnt changed because of a major accident.
