Problem: Cabin Filter

You know, I had removed my glove box, the metal knee impact plate, and one or two other things in my efforts to locate the cabin filters.
That was when I figured I'd better run a search on it.
Like several of you all, my '93 SC4 had no filters in it from the factory either. Incredible! I mean, it's not like purified cabin air was a special, extra-cost, add-on feature. I find it very odd that any of these cars left the factory without the filters.
I got my SC 5 years ago and always "planned" on getting at those filters, I just never did until today. I found pine needles, crushed leaves, dirt, and clumps of hardened black stuff.
Can't wait to breath some purified air for a change.![Woohoo](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/woohoo.gif)
I always did wonder why it was my $52,000 luxury sport coupe wasn't able to filter out exhaust fumes and whatnot.
Now I know. That bad boy had been missing the cabin filters from day one.

I installed my filters on my 94 a while ago. It did have lots of dirt and leaves/pin needles, etc. Sprayed some lysol up in there too hopefully killing germs n bacteria. Should have put some kind of scent in there as well but o wells.
Just follow the links TheMole posted and u should be all set

Maybe this is why so many peeps (including me) have posted about cracking things open only to find no filters installed. BUT, oddly enough, the filter slot in the air stream is right there awaiting the two carbon filters made for it. So it's not like it was not DESIGNED with that in mind.

Is there any way to clean out the vent that goes to the cabin filters on a SC400 either from under the hood or under the car? It would seem to me that if you just stuck a vacuum into the one inch slot for the filter that you might miss lots of debris that was backed up in the vent.
