Matador, thats worse for your case then not having it mounted. I think its funny when people actually put them in the front windshield and think they are okay. Basically what you are saying is "well i know i should have my plate mounted but i dont want to. So i am going to break the law." atleast with it underneath your seat you can play dumb and say 'well i thought it was optional and the dealership never installed it.'
Ryeno, Im just repeating what a local police officer told two fellow CL members (1QWKLEX and Slooooow) as they had a run in with him at a local meet. He said that it had to be viewable from ~50 feet. Playing dumb when you get pulled over can work, but I dont think its what the OP is after. He will obviously have to look into his local laws as he makes his decision.

Then you'll just have to cross your fingers and hope that the cop is a kind one.

The laws vary a lot from state to state... I've been given tickets for front plates being in the windshield while my car was parked, and I've had cops hassle me for ziptied plates, but never actually been ticketed for it.

i live in socal and ive noticed that cops dont even look at my lexus when i drive by let alone get pulled over for front plate. (use to drive a 240, got harassed all the time) if you dont already have holes in your bumper id say leave it and just dont drive like a douche and you most likely wont get stopped for front plate.

no front plate is hottness

IF you are going to put a front plate on. i think center looks the best on stock bumper

zip ties do not work for fix a tickets! tried it and failed.

Went through a road-check and had the front plate sitting on my passenger seat, when the cop asked me about it I said I dont want to drill holes in my bumper, he said "yeah I wouldnt want to on this car either" and let me go LOL.
An ex SC member whose got his new 350Z in my parkade has his front plate displayed on his passenger sun visor. A different idea..

If you HAVE to have a solid hardware mount and you don't want it to show, just get some L brackets as mentioned above and attach them to the underside of the air inlet. Then attach your normal license frame to the top of the L brackets - DONE!

Once your ticket is signed off, just detach the L-brackets again and it leaves no trace
