I don't think this one's on y'all list. I just acquired this bad boy from the swamps of Louisiana. I'm in Lafayette,La, previous owner got it from his uncle in New Orleans, La. Car has seen better days, but the engine is still going strong. Once I fix the VSS I'll have an idea of the odometer. For $1200 I couldn't pass it up.
OH and the title is reconstructed in case y'all need to know. It had some passenger door damage. Nothing too bad though. I temp matched the paint. I pan to na-t and then paint it once I know where I'm going with it but it will more than likely be a 400whp daily drifter 🤷‍♂️

 

Any 1/120 is a great find. Welcome to the club! I don't see that that VIN has been accounted for just yet.

 

Thanks @ThomasGS4 , the guy I bought it from had it sitting out for over a year with no plans on fixing it. He let his mom drive it when needed and someone rear ended her. Waiting on replacement tail lights so I can fix the bumper at the same time. I'm slowly learning Lexus built this thing like a freaking tank....😂 Only thing I get confused about is it has Lexus badges but the rear badges are Lexus, Lexus logo, and Soarer. Doesn't look like it was added on but I could be wrong.

 

Congratulations on the find!! And glad the previous owner got it a "rebuilt/reconstructed" title rather than letting that slide.

These SC300/400's are built like tanks from the four wheel double wishbone suspension to the hinge design for the doors to the factory galvanized steel body... and so much more. Very, very over-designed and long lasting cars so long as they are kept up.

The "Soarer" badge on the rear was added without a doubt. No 1992-2000 U.S. or Canadian SC300 or SC400 (the only official markets for LHD) were ever given the Soarer badging from the factory. Similarly no RHD Z30 Soarer (the other version only ever officially sold in Japan from 1991-2000) ever officially came with Lexus badges... but some owners added those badges just because they could.

Both the SC300/400 and Z30 Soarer are basically the same cars but of course there are many differences in driveline options, exterior and exterior options, available model trim levels and the side the steering wheel is on between both versions tweaked for sale on different continents. And of course the Supra MKIV was developed from these cars and manufactured on the same assembly line. There is a lot of overlap in what parts from each version of these cars (also considering the mid-cycle revisions) can swap between them but it can also get very specific.

I've had two SC300's in my day; a 1992 in Royal Jade Pearl, and a 1997 in Onyx.
I really miss them, and I'm looking to get back into one; only this time (since I have adult-money now, lol) I want a '97 Manual.

Here is a table I lifted from Wikipedia that can be informative . Looks like this info is based on Calendar Year. The annotations in blue are references from which the editors lifted the numbers. Looks like they have lumped the 1991 production with the 1992 that is why the number of production is a lot bigger than sales and technically the Lexus SC model started in 1992. So is the 120 number only for the 1997 calendar year manufactured vehicles ? I still don't know ! Hope one day we will find a more credible source and will find out .

Here is a table I lifted from Wikipedia that can be informative . Looks like this info is based on Calendar Year. The annotations in blue are references from which the editors lifted the numbers. Looks like they have lumped the 1991 production with the 1992 that is why the number of production is a lot bigger than sales and technically the Lexus SC model started in 1992. So is the 120 number only for the 1997 calendar year manufactured vehicles ? I still don't know ! Hope one day we will find a more credible source and will find out .

 

I have owned JT8CD32Z8V0039519 since 2008. It has been sitting at my parents in another state for quite a few years but I am finally going to get around to restoring/building it. Will post a pic of the VIN as verification in March when I am there next.

I haven’t seen this list in years. I will say that the car with my name on it needs to be updated slightly. I sold the car to someone who isn’t on here. He floated title and sold it two weeks later to a young boy and mother. The boy went through some traumatic experience and never registered the car. It sat in his wooded back yard for a year with a leaky radiator because he crashed it.

Some more time goes by and title is still in my name. “SC Colin,” the guy who doesn’t use his identity online, befriended and convinced the kid to trade him for an Acura Integra. Parallel to this, “Colin” is exiled from visiting the boy due to stolen property from the boy’s mother. Colin proceeds to reach out to me for the next year, asking many questions about what parts installed on this SC are worth money. I gave him vague answers followed with questions of what he planned to do with the car. He wouldn’t answer. A few more months went by. He then replied and said he planned to swap the drivetrain into his other SC. Something wasn’t adding up. Why would you want to swap drivetrain out of a 1/120 car? Finally, he posts the car for sale, this time with damage from rolling it into ditch. Roof caved in. Interior is completely destroyed. The entire time, he for some reason ignores me when I attempt to purchase it back. After many months, he sells it to Charlie but does not provide title. Years later, the boy reaches out to me. I asked him how he knew my name. Turns out the title is still in the hands of the boy’s mother, in my name. I connected the boy with Charlie so they can sort titling issues a couple years back. So please correct it. Colin never owned the vehicle.
