Hey Manaray if you're still working on the OEM HID project, I did some work of my own. I removed the optics from my headlight assebly and took measurements of every dimension. Here's what they look like if you guys are curious...

First the stand alone optics assembled, but removed from the housing...

Here's all the loose pieces to the headlight as soon as you take it apart. There are some more not pictured, but I didn't want to remove them from the backing piece.

And here's the projector housing stripped of the lense, gromit, o-ring, and rubber seals. You're seeing the reflector, which focuses the bulb's light difussion, and the reflector shield, which produces proper cut-off line.

Headlight assembly minus the backing.

The low beam cut out is about 84mm in diameter.
The projector lens is about 78mm in diameter.
The projector assembly is 45mm on the outer rim of the socket end.
The projector assembly is 83mm on the outer rim of the mouth end.
The whole optic structure is 181mm from end to end minus the cruvature of the lens.

These measurements are as accurate as I could measure. My only measuring tool on hand was a tape measure in 1/32nd-inch increments. I did converstions and rounded numbers off. Margin of error should be no more than +/-1mm. When I find my metric ruler, I'll measure again and post results.

good info and pics...but what are you tring to accomplish?....or the problem your trying to solve?......i have a headlight apart in my garage waiting for cleaning....are you doing somehting to make HIDs look better?...im interested..Jeff

Jeff, i'm pretty sure he's attempting to retrofit an OE HID assembly with optics, I would assume for the leveling system and total 'factory HID' look you get when you have optics that were originally designed for HID. Am I right, lex400sc?

hey great post, be sure to keep us posted with what your doing with the HID's, I am also working on getting the facotry HID's to work on my SC. Thanks for the info though!

Lex is correct. I am trying to get maximum dimensions for what will fit into our headlights so I can begin shopping for an HID replacement. The process will slow somewhat from here on because my feet are bound as far as driving around and finding donor HID optics. I will continue to browse for dimensions online though.

hey lex400sc you can try to get the Audi a4 lights or any audi, im sure that they have similar optics. I have seen those on the road and love the lights, just a thought.
