HID problem
Well I came across these HID's for $150. They are rated 5300K.
Anyways, I installed this system and the left side (drivers side) turns off and on by itself.
Here's how I connected the system:
1st: connected to battery
2nd: plugged in hid bulbs, grounded both wires
3rd: connected bulbs to ballasts
4th: connected the relay
5th: finally connected it to 1 original housing plug which is on the left side.
Sorry if i'm not more elaborate in my description, but I assume people that have installed these HID systems kinda sorta know what i'm talking about.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Tony

Try switching ballasts and see what happens. To me, it sounds like a bad connection or a bad ballast. If switching the ballasts causes the other side to do the same, then the ballast is bad. BUt, it could just be a bad connections somewhere, so re-check the connections.

I had the same problem with my first set of Philip HID (on my 3rd set right now--just testing to see which color temps I like). My lights turn off when I drive across any bumps. I had to play around with the switch several times before it comes back on again, but then it just dies one day. I found out that it was my ballast that was bad. Since it was under warranty, I had it replaced. I hope, in your case, it's the connection that's bad.

same problem too
MY phillips lights were bad too. I had the same problem w/them going off and on.
For a YEAR, I kept thinking it was my alternator, and I was looking for a replacement. My installer and I were baffled. We checked the wiring and rechecked them. Switched ballasts.
Until finally I told them to trade them in for a set of plug n play Vision HIDs.
I have NEVER had a shutdown problem w/the visions like I did the phillips.
Later, I changed to the HEllas and still no problem.
I just think it's the way the phillips HID were made. They were an older generation HID kit and not as solid I feel.

Thanks for the quick replies fellas!
Well after messing around with these lights for hours...I've come to the conclusion that if I leave them on to warm up, they won't turn off at all! I guess i'll just leave them on while I warm up my car in the morning, that'll keep them working fine all day!
These HID's I got were a one time deal, some dude jacked them and I guess I bumped into this guy at the right time.
I haven't seen my lights from far personally, but have been told they look bluish, purplish at an angle. So i'm quite pleased!
$150 well spent!

ACleanSC4,
It's good to heart that it is not a hardware issue. As for the lights, I personally like the HID with 4100K in temps. I have tried on the 6000K and the 7000K on my SC300 as well but still preferred the 4100K. I guess if you care more on looks, go for the higher temps since they do give off a bluish or purplish color. But if you care for a better vision at night, go for the 4100K.

Well I read somewhere that anything between 4100-6000k will give you the best visability. So my 5300k falls in there =)
Someone on CL did some research on that and i'm pretty sure I read that info on this forum. It's true that the higher the temps the more colorful you get, but hey, I can't complain for $150.
