Default Another AC/Heater Control Unit Question

OK. I searched and found nothing that is exactly the same as my issue. So we go.

I let me brother borrow my 1992 SC 300 and he had it for a week and everything worked as normal. then 2 days before he is supposed to drive it 250 miles to give it back to me, I get the call. Here is what I was told.

He was driving the car, the AC was working correctly. He parked the car (running with the A/C on still) ran into the bank, came out drove one block and at the street light, then the screen goes completely black (as if all the LCD liquid has bled out. Please bear in mind that the screen was so-so anyways, you could only see the top half of the screen) the entire heater A/C control panel does not work, nothing at all, no fan, no mode, no defrosts, no nothing. He replaced the 50 and 60 AMP fuses under the hood, because he thought they had blown, which they were fine!

I have replaced the 5 prong relay under the dash marked "HTR" and still nothing.

So any help or direction would be greatly appreciated by me!! Diagram would help me as well.

Thanks in advance-

I would take it apart first just to check for any looose connections. if you have a bad climate control unit, try hitting up Aliga in the classifieds..

I am pretty sure it's the unit, I just was hoping someone would know of an easier (cheaper) fix.

I had the same thing happen a while ago, except my display had no bleeding and never turned black... it just stopped working all together. The orange backlight lights up but when i hit the buttons, nothing happens. I replaced all the fuses and relays that i could and have no clue what to do from here.

This all happened after the car was put on a tow truck... the ac was on and working, the car died from a loose mapecu wire, i get it home, rewire the mapecu, turn the car on and no AC... what the hell?

I dont normally double post (made a thread for this) but I need to get some help quickly if possible..heres the post.

Hello all..haven't been here in awhile! Ah well, I lurked before :P Anyways, I have a question. The other day my AC/Heat controls stopped working in my sc300 (93). The backlight display is on, but none of the ***** or buttons work. It worked just minutes before...got out of the car, back in, and tried to turn on the air..nothing. Since there are no books for this model to reference...any ideas? Any help would be great as winter is approaching! Thanks in advance!!
