Btw, how fast can one go through the toll and still have the device detected? On the Wikipedia page for Fastrak, it says speeds up to 70 mph, but I have never seen anyone charge through the toll lane at that speed.
Through the tolls out here, people routinely do 80+ through them (speed limit is 70). I've done that fast before and never gotten any complaints.

I have friends that use Fastrak on a daily basis down here in SoCal and they say that the things don't even get read by the sensors half the time. So they take a photo of your lic plate # and when they see you are on file, they only charge you the regular fee you would pay for using the road, no fines.

There are high speed readers and low speed ones. The ones around PA all require you to go through the "old school" toll lane. In DE though, they have fast lanes where it branches off and if you have EZPass it can read it quickly. I am sure that PA's system is capible of that but it would require recontructing all of the toll plazas.

I've got a couple friends that just strap or velcro it to the sun visor.
Flip it down when you go through the toll, then flip it back up outta the way when you're done.
