SC 300 Rear Differential issues
ok im making about 500hp wheel in my sc300..
im on stock w58 and stock rear end. rear end has 210k on it. today after doin many pulls and spinning tires till 90mph it wheel hopped pretty bad. the diff is gettin weak. still drives mint but when commin to a slow stop it sounds like teeth skipping..
my question is what rear ends will be a direct swap with no axel changes or driveshaft changes i dont care is the gearing is the same or not. the shorter the better... need something crazy cheap and fast.
this is a 1992 sc300 5 speed..

Wheel hop is not an indication of a bad diffy, it's caused by suspension setup/condition and tire type. It could be as simple as shocks.

the big deal is the spider gears breaking. if that happens then your car is dead in the water.
i have broken a stock diff on stock motor before lol
get another sc300 diff or an sc400 diff.
toyota supra mk4 na or tt automatic diff will bolt right up too.
you can get a mk4 supra tt manual diff but that also requires a left, im pretty sure, axle change. those are pricey though.

That's how I pulled it out of the car. I started to unbolt the torque converter, then realized I didn't need to because two bolts snapped and the others came out. This is the original engine and tranny so it's still a mystery to me how it happened.
BTW, it's a 5 speed now...

use regular gear oil you find at an auto store. dont waste your money on crap like redline.
250 seems a bit steep. i got my first one for 200 and i felt i got ripped off and the only reason i did it was because mine already broke.
i bought a spare, which is still in the garage, for 75 bucks. and it came out of a car with 70,000 miles.
unless you are desperate for one i would keep looking around.
i have seen people on here sell stock diffs for 50-100 bucks.

well i have a choice to get the auto witch is 4.27 gear i think. go back to mine 4.09 or one from an sc400 i think its like a 3.90.. i do alot of highway runs. 40mph to 140-160. what would be better for me. also only reason i want the same one is the speedo will be off with the other ones. prices i found were from 250-200.
