Got the base coat on, not doing a clear coat cause urethane is pretty damn stout. Plus I wanted to colorsand.

Here' what I did today:

Wetsanded the entire car to make it as smooth as a baby's asscrack:

Then the base coat went on:

I need to colorsand, as there's a fair amount of orange peel, but I'm very happy with the results. My car is one color, after 2 years.

good job man, im kinda doing the same thing right now. I had some orange peel but it was on my clear coat. I wet sanded with 1000 grit sand paper and then wet sanded with 1200. Recleared and its like a mirror finish. I was experimenting so i only have the hood done. My cousin has a bunch of **** in my garage so I cant finish the whole car yet :/
Looks good, keep up the good work. Makes me proud to see other people in the community doing things like this.

I'm kinda confused at 1 point when you said then the color coat went on, and the pictures show the car shiny. The color coat only shines when you use 1 stage paint, in which the color coat has gloss in it. With 3 stage paint like OEM, the color coat is always dull, and only the clear coat will make it shiny. This DIY project is great! You save a lot of $$ to do it yourself.

I like the way your trim came out but I'm confused. First you said.....

Initially you said flat black, then you said semi-gloss/clear coat. Am I overlooking something? If not, which is it?

On a side note, why didn't you paint the wing separately?!?!?!? I have OCD so painting the wing on the car is killing me. The wing aside, I'm not knocking, your prep work looks great. As you know prep work is a big factor in regards to quality so good job .

It was semi-gloss black, but flat black will work just the same. I topped it off with clear as well.

I brought it home, sprayed it down and removed some dust.

Still needs wetsanding and polishing, but I'm happy with the results.
