I am curious if anyone uses a USB charger that plugs into the cig. lighter that allows the ashtray/cig cover to close completely?

I have been looking at this mini usb charger and I am not sure if this will work out.

how can you close it completely? are you talkin about when the charger is not in use? if so then just take it out. i use one for my sidekick i juss leave it alone.

Hardwire the USB port to the ignition. If I were you I would put the port either in the center console or next to the shifter

If you're looking to use this to charge your ipod, just hardwire it in by yourself.

So I went out and bought one, it clears the ashtray cover! So I can shut it and leave it plugged in at all times.

I have one of those, i just tapped the wires under the cigarette lighter, and leave it sitting under the radio harness completely hidden. then i got a 3 ft USB extension wire and ran it out the side (or wherever you want, you can even mount it). I like to have a cigarette lighter at all times even though i don't allow smoking in my car =)
