Thumbs down HELP: Brakes lights on, smoke in car?

ok, just got back to my car after parking at my friends house

the brakes lights were on, the headlights were off so it wasn't that, and i opened the door and there was a cloud of white smoke and my car smelled like something burning . . .

I pulled the battery and came on here, any suggestions? I'm thinking burnt fuse or crossed wires melting . . . help?

Hope you find the cause ASAP, get it towed to a service center. Good Luck!

I don't know about the smoke but check the floor by your pedals. Look for a broken plastic tab or pieces of it. Find the brake light switch and look where the brake pedal pushes the button when you release it. If nothing is there to push the button then your brake lights will stay on. You can use a nut and bolt or get another tab that fits.

Hope that helps.

how low is your car? your tire could have been touching the wires and that could have caused it. i had the same problem. either relocate the wires or raise the car up.

Ok, thanks for the advice so far, here's some new developements if you're interested. So, went back later that night, rehooked up the battery and everything was fine, no new smoke or burning smell and no more tail lights! (they were my tail lights, not bright like headlights like I originally thought) andways it seemed fine, drove it home, still fine. But the next morning when I parked at work I realized that my tails were stuck on again. I pulled the bat and went to work.

Came back 8 hours later, and it fixed it! Then today my power seat stopped working. But only the movement and recline controls. The lumbar support still worked... Go figure that one out. It's started working again about 1 hours after I noticed

and advice with these electrical gremlin?!?
