Umm.....isnt that just "forcing" a crack?
I guess if your going flush, that's a great way to keep in under control.

Must have been a seriously aggressive fitment.

**EDIT**
Forgot to add..... I rolled the fenders on my G35 today. You thought the paint was thin on a Lexus? HOLY CRAP!!
My paint was hammered from just the rubbing alone, rolling made it MUCH worse.

It got too hot here today (Texas), so I called it a day. Gonna start over in the morning. I've got it just about sorted, but the lip needs to go up about another 3-5mm or so. Basically, I have to repaint the inner lip on both sides.

Yeah, it's that bad.

Rubber mallets and a heat gun is what I used on both my SC and my brothers. You just have to be gentle and massage the inner lip in. Similar result as rolling if you do it right. Be careful with the fronts

To the OP, I highly doubt touch up paint will solve your paint chip problem. If you're real concerned about rust and you're going to be driving in the snow I would look into having it painted professionally of if you're a DIY type of guy you can always do it yourself. Check out AUTOMOTIVETOUCHUP.COM for actual car paint in a can. Its a premixed formula that is guaranteed to match your OEM color. They also sell the clear coat in a separate can as well.

Its the inner lip though. No-one can see it. Sand it and seal it.

So the chipping you are all talking about isn't visible? Just interior?

PM member Gytis123 if you need them painted. He will take care of you. Tell him Mike with the Red GS sent you. He took care of mine as a side job and I couldnt be happier. I shaved, well he did, and I had no cracking of my paint this time like I did on my IS.

Hope it all works out for you

I rolled mine flush and all my chipping stay right behind the visible edge of the lip. So all I did was jack the car up take the wheels off and masked off what i didnt want painted and the removed the loose paint and painted it with rustoleum hard hat paint....6mo later no rust.

You score the paint to contain where an uncontrolled crack forms. If you score the area behind the fender it will stay there.

I rented the Eastwood roller, and I didn't like the results at all.

I ended up cutting the lip out with a high speed cut off wheel. The part that I tried rolling looks like ****, but other than that the cut looks very clean.

Rolled mine with the eastwood roller and a heat gun - no cracking and I rolled them deep. Patience is key.
