Default door lock/ keyless not working

hello CL,

I recently bought a 96 SC300.
the car's key less was working fine for the first week i had the car,but all of a suddenly the key less stopped working. It will unlock the car, but will not lock the car. After a brief trouble shooting of the problem i realized that the car will not lock with the inside switch neither(door switch). i checked all fuses, and they were all good.I checked a small black box under the dash, between to the brake and gas pedal. it clicks......but not sure if this is normal....

please if anyone has experienced this, please help me out.

thanx

Did you try new ecu ? The lock uses ground so if you look for wiring diagram.
You will find wires that lock and unlock doors. So you can use wire one end you need to attach to ground the other end to other wire that you are testing. Is there alarm in your car. I had problem were lock wire was shorting to ground and keep locking my doors and unlocking did not work

K.I.S.S, keep it simple stupid.... look to the left of the steering wheel down a little bit, next to the trunk and gas cap opener, there is a switch there for turning keyless on and off make sure its on. happen to me i was going insane for like 2 months. i bet you you bumped it with your knee one day, or just plain bumped it...

+1. It's so you can lock the trunk and the Valet can't go thru your stuff.

I know this is an ancient thread but I found it when I seached for this "problem". I bought a 1993 SC300 last month and when I got around to addressing the key fob not unlocking my car I found that the button mentioned here was my issue. I'm glad this forum has stayed around long enough to retain this info for others to use.
