Talking Supra Engine opportunity

A friend of mine wrecked his 93 ( i believe ) auto supra TT. He spun out and ended up backwards in a ditch. The rear end of the car is really messed up, but the engine is fine. He has offered to sell me it since it bolts right in to my SC3. This is a great opportunity for me since my SC has almost 200k miles on her and I either needed an engine rebuild or a swap in the future to go turbo. He said he would give me a good price but I dunno how much exactly its gonna cost me. How much would a used Supra TT engine with around 32K miles on it go for. My car is an auto, soo i am thinking all i also need is a new ECU. Anything else I need for the swap? thanks for the help.

well, the milage on his car is awsome -- only 32k? the more common swap is w/ a 5sp. http://www.fly-hawaii.com/lexustt/previewManual.htm here's a guy w/ manual you can buy... he outlines how to swap the 2JZ-GTE (supra TT) engine in. Hmmm, about you having an auto. You might wanna swap the transmission & rear end also (as long as it's not damaged)

I may be coming from left field, but the GTE engine needs the GTE ECU -- it won't work with the 2JZ-GE ECU in the SC300. Which means that you'll proably want the Supra TT Auto Tranny...

The problem I'd forsee w/ swaping the tranny is that you're gonna need to use the BFH (Big F---- Hammer) on your tranny tunnel. Also, if you're gonna be getting all that extra HP, you might wanna grab your friend's brakes too...

Second thought: How close are the SC300 & Supra TT Auto trannies? Will the proformance of having the SC300 tranny w/ the 2JZ-GTE engine be unbearable? Will you simpily tear your SC300 Auto to shreds? If it's bearable, you might wanna wait until your wallet recovers to swap the Supra Auto in...

Well now that my dislocated finger is bothering me enough... I'm gonna go to bed. (The doctor said I'm gonna be out for 4 weeks... I didn't last 4 days in my cast ) I may turn into a 9 fingered man!

I suspect you'll basically need a front-cut. That would include all of the wiring, the related ECUs, etc.

I suspect if you do it yourself you could do it for under $10k depending on what he wants for the setup.

...but I'd talk to someone who has done the swap before if I were you.
