Question Replacing the Pioneer CD changer....

Hello, all.

I have a 94 sc400 with nakamichi sound system which comes with a pioneer CD changer. The CD changer for some reason, is starting to malfunction as the weather here in Michigan is getting hot. (The unit fails to read any CDs in the catridge...just skips them all and displays 'err') I was wondering whether it is possible to change the CD changer with another unit of different model and maker. If so, what model would fit for replacement?

Thanks

Default Here's the Nak Hack, which shows the CD changer wiring....

http://209.125.175.29/main.htm

This is from Peter's ("933005sp") hack job, discussed at this thread:

...and elsewhere. No CD changer will be a simple plug in, but armed with this hack info, a good car stereo shop should be able to wire up an adapter that will work with other changers.

It is possible your current changer could be repaired- if you'll search previous threads you'll find discussions on its weak points and how they can be fixed.
