Question How many people painted their front spoiler?

Went to the shop I have been using recently and asked for a quote for a front and rear bumper respray. I told them I wanted the front spoiler painted the same color of the car and the guy told me that it won't look good. He said that because the rubber is so soft, it will chip and peel and look like **** after a year. Is he BSing me or will it really look like ****?

IMO I left mine unpainted on my '95, but it's Sandstone so it contrasts nicely (trying to aim for a beige/black theme). I think a black lip will contrast nicely with Garnet.

Its flexible for a reason and getting it painted would be a relatively bad idea.

Agreed. I'm not a paint guy, but I think the front lip would chip over time. I don't think the paint guy would BS you about that, considering he's the one making money. I think most people would tell you straight up if it wouldn't be worth their time doing it, but I don't think people would try to turn business away from themselves.

Just like the bumpers being flexible for a reason...so should those not be painted either?

I disagree with what everyone is saying...I have my lip painted now for almost 3 years and have no issues with fading or peeling. Since my car was slammed at one point it only has scratches on it from getting out of driveways and from me rubbing on my garage wall parking once or twice, so I say do it!!! Makes the car look 100x better

As long as they use the right paint, it should be fine. Bumpers, lip spoilers, etc need something called flex paint I think mixed in it.

Has anyone ever tried to spray paint the lip? My car is black onyx and I just added the front lip a month ago but since the rest of my car is glossy the lip kinda looks outta place. Anyone ever tried or should i just leave it flat?

the idiot (painter) has no idea what flex agent is.....all bumpers MUST have the right amount or all bumpers with paint would flake.....he either doesnt know how to paint or is too cheap to use it...

flex agent is more expensive than regular paint....but does not have any pigment to it..

this looks sooo classy

I'm definately not taking my car to this guy because he obviosly doesn't know his body work. He did do a good job on my exhaust and tips but I don't trust him now.
