Default Sponsorship...gimmick?

Quick question, what do yall think about those internet websites that you supposedly join up with to get sponsorships....

Has anyone tried one before? Such as getsponsored.net, are they really beneficial or are they just a gimmick designed to rob car enthusiasts of hard earned dollars?

Just checked out getsponsored's website and found this disclaimer...

"I understand that I am submitting information to Team SCP and permitting the Team and Sponsor partners to contact me by text, mail, email and phone"

Sounds like by joining their website your just opening your self up to get solicited by their "Sponsor Partners" and 15% off of marked up retail pricing.

I'd say gimmick without a doubt.

play the game. Basically you need to prove how you will be helping their business etc and what you want in return.

I looked into one of these sites a while back and it was a little too involved for me. You have to give them a schedule of events you plan to attend and when you get to the event say, drag race event, drift event, car show, auto x, whatever you have to put a tent up advertising their products along with your car covered in various decals. Now once you have that done you need to prove to them that you where actually at said event by taking pictures of everthing your booth, other booths, just take as many pics as you can and get as much info as possible, have the event organizer sign these pre printed things you get saying you were there too. Basically get as much info as possible and as much proof as possible because if your do not MEET THEIR REQUIREMENTS you will be liable for the full cost of any modifications they have done to your car. Which will add up in a hurry so if your not careful you will end up thousands of dollars in the hole. Unless you have lots of free time this is a bad idea as you will be entering a binding contract for a min. of usually a year. hope this helps.

Correct!
Need to have a plan, submit lots proposals and spend lots money.

In my case, I swapped 2JZ GTE with 6-speed at my cost, submitted sponsorship proposal to BOMEX for body kit.
After Bomex, I kept knocking on doors. Most of them would offer partial sponsorship.

Here is my sponsor list.
Bomex
Makin Industries (VOLK)
Toyo
Rotora
Kaixen HID

HKS said they are not going to sponsor an old as car unless I take out Tein Flex+EDFC, buy stroker kit and their T-charger.
I just purchased T-71 so I ended up getting no ask no tell partial sponsorship for HKS electronics and engine parts for built engine.

I have attended several car shows and submitted the report to my sponsors for 16 months.

^^^ what he said,
my sponsors include:
Zerolift Autolab,
Slowmotion Motorsports,
Boosted Performance auto sports,

It just depends on who you know and what you get. many sponsors will work with you but its rare to get a full ride sponsorship. many times you will get a discount on parts or labors etc.
