I think you might be onto something. I also think it helps push some air up into the engine bay which helps keep temps down esp. with the turbo/dp.

i was thinking to take it off too but i kept it on.

it will not make a difference at all on our cars . . . but it was designed to keep road debris from going up & make air flow up toward your engine bay to keep things a little cooler / better airflow . . . but its not enough to make that big of a difference anyways. take it off if its beat up.

and plus with it off when you work on your car and you drop something itll end up on the floor instead of trying to freaken reach down and grab whatever it is.

uhm...no

put of a reason?...yes
worse gas mileage?...would you like to show proof prior to making such a statement

we dont drive rx-7's. if you remove the undertray on those cars they overheat. we dont have those issues.
Of course im not going to show you proof. That would require me to justify your argument.

"we dont drive rx-7s" ?

Ignorance sure is bliss.

Worse gas mileage? really?

ignorance? if you know anything about FC's you would know that.

justify my argument? YOU are the one that claims/said the undertray removal will reduce gas mileage. if youre not going to show proof them stay the F out of this thread.

....had to do it. you seem to like that one.

it will, this isnt rocket science here.

Without that cover air will go upward into the engine bay instead of passing easily below engine bay = drag.

it actualy helps areodynamics by reducing turbulance in the engine bay and also the vents create a vacuum that removes hot air in the engine bay. if it is not properly installed then you should just remove it. if its in one peice and you have the propper tools just make a new one i am going to as soon as i get around to it lol

drag coefficient increases exponentially with speed. considering your top speed on given day is about 80mph and average city speed of 40ish mph.

at those speeds your mpg's arent going to change. on a race car it makes a difference due to the speed. the undertray on the race car also helps with front wheel grip.

so yet again...you dont have a race car.

the point i made was it WILL decrease mpg. I never said by how much because quite frankly i dont know.

It wont matter if you have a race car or a DD; either way removing that guard will create turbulence.

turbulence = drag
drag = your engine working harder to do what it did before more easily.
working harder = using more fuel.

Like i said this isnt rocket science here.

They aren't needed, but they serve many purposes. It's a splash guard to keep water from soaking electronics. They also trap oil from staining your garage or driveway, they help keep road grime out. The side pieces also help add stability to the frontbumper cover..

I plan on reinstalling mine after I adjust the way the fmic sits.
