I have had mine off for well over 6k miles now, and have had no problems with water getting on my electronics, and have actually noticed a decrease in dirt build up under the hood.

I have had mine off for maybe 2 or 3 months now, and I have to say, my gas mileage hasnt gone down one mile. In fact, it might have gone up, but thats probably more because im driving a little better haha. Also, I do not see any dirt or anything under my hood. The only thing I can say about this is, if its screwed up, take it off. Its not doing any good hanging from your car. Probably making gas mileage worse just hanging at this point. If its secure and in the right position, whats it hurting? Leave it on.
