Default Should I buy this SC?

I everyone:

I am new to the forum and just looking for a little advice. Ive been searching the posts for the past few days trying to find out as much as possible about the Lexus SC 300 and found the threads very helpful.

So here Is my deal.. My father’s friend is moving out of the country and needs to get rid of his car. Just so happens that I am looking for a reliable somewhat sporty daily driver so I figure I might be interested. I took the car for spin today and everything works well. However, after pulling the car fax report I found out that it had been in an accident with moderate damage to the rear and the mileage apparently has been rolled back about 16k.

My question is it is it still worth it. I don’t expect to use the car for more than 2 years and don’t intend to get much when I am done with it. I was thinking about offering about $3000. Let me know what you think..
Thanks

Car Details:

1995 SC300..
Current Odometer reading 130,000 I’m guessing its more like 155,000.
The condition is good inside but a few scratches and a dent on the outside.

Thanks in advance

Ill try to post pics and carfax

seems legit. I don't think you can roll back these odometers. The only way to explain that is if it's a different cluster, or someone messed up on the carfax odometer reading.

So long as it wasnt rolled back from like 250k or something like that. Otherwise $3k sounds like a good deal..

i just don't understand why you had to pull a carfax report to find out about the accident. your pop's friend should have told you that straight up... makes me think what else is he not telling you....?
but for the mileage etc...$3K isn't bad, especially if it was maintained well. GL.

Thanks for all of the input. it is all really helpful.

I think he does not know about the accident since it took place while in possession of the first owner in 1998. I don't think he even knows what a carfax is either.

Sounds like a good deal..

First, the guy is your father's friend you say? So unless that guy is fake then there is no real way of knowing the condition of the car from the time he owns it. He is the 3rd owner right? Looks like all the issues had happen from the 1st and 2nd owner. If your dad's friend hasn't had any problem since then then he has taken very good care of it.

Good luck.
