Default Help Please. Bulding My Drift Car

Hello, I am planning on buying an sc3 or an sc4 and turning it into a drift car. So i have a couple of questions

First i would like to know which of the 2 you guys think would be better for what i want to do and why

Second i would like to know how i can get about 500-600 rwhp out of the car

Third i would like to know about possible engine swaps like what can drop in what can fit, what needs to be done, pricing etc. and will an ls1 fit into one of the cars

Lastley if the engine swap does happen how hard is it to swap engines in the car

thank you very much i would appreciate if you could help me out

type of car for drifting...matter of opinion

horsepower...turbos are your friend

engine swaps...difficulty depends on the engine and your mechanical ability/plans; half the threads on CL are about them (even LS1 swaps have been discussed)

tranny swaps...the other half of CL threads cover these issues

any of these broad questions will get you under fire quickly because someone asks the same thing every single day, but anything specific (reasonably) and you're bound to get a mountain of advice and support

X's 30!! with the questions you are asking seems to be simple enough information to search for.

The SC is a heavy car, yes it can drift but paired with the questions you are asking (in 2 identical threads) plus the weight and cost, an S13/14/FC/FD might be easier to comprehend.

If you already know how to drift, and dont mind a heavy car and money isnt really an issue..

GTE swap paired with r154 trans
convert fromt twins to single
coilovers for a TT Supra
LSD
DRIFT...

Hello, This question to me is like people moving to California. It looks promising but when you see how expensive it is...its on to someplace else.

Eh, an SC can be a great drift car. Just need Coilovers, an Engine swap and/or Turbo, possibly sway bars, and some weight reduction.

This will depend on your budget, frankly if you're a beginner at drifting which i believe you are
Either engine has enough power for a beginner to learn drifting
My suggestion as far as upgrading is the suspension and drivetrain.
concentrate on the LSD and coilovers for starters
the go with suspension brace and lightening the drifetrain so you can make use of that stock power

500-600 rwhp for a drift car is not meant for beginners, that shiete will literrally kill you.....i knoe some crazy japanese drifters and most of them for a daily driven drift car they suggest between 300-400 will suffice.
my HKS powered S-14 which had 400rwhp only lasted me 2 months because i was a begginner drifter
but my stock 180sx only had suspension and drivetrain modification and that thought me a lot in getting better at drifting.

engine swaps....heheh...no clue on this one...just get with everyone else on that one.
concentrate on getting better at drifting before puttin anymore money on the car cuz any drifter will tell you
you will crash your car....the better you get at drifting the less likely you will total your car but that don't mean you wont crash

GOOD LUCK in drifting

if you need any more info on drifting hit me up
i'm building my IS for drifting and show
but the IS is my 5th car after drifting and crashing 5 previous cars

i agree...but for a (what seems like) a beginner who doesnt wana do too much research what better route to go then a 240?

theres a diy and a writeup for absolutely everything you could ever wana do to that car in 800 places across the net and parts are cheap and abundant.

agreed....a 240 is a perfect platform for beginner drifters
i would suggest the 240 fastback and not the coupe
even though they share the same chassis
the coupe or S-13 model seems to have a lot of understeer issues
and it takes more suspension work to get it in better shape for drifting
while the 180 model has a perfect balance for drifting as is with minimal upgrade.
