manaray, what about the supra TTs that pass emissions with out any exaust at all? Wouldn't it be possible just to lower the boost waaay down when you go to get the emissions test? Plus NJ proably doesn't have that strict of emissions, and you might be able to find a shady place (just gloss over it kinda). If the engine is tuned properly(proper air/fuel ratios & what not) , I'd guess that it'd do fine. Has anyone w/ a turbo car done an emissions test?
Just thinking outloud...

I passed emmissions with turbo, no problem.
My readings didn't go up from the previous time (pre-turbo)
I had the cats on the car, ECU in closed loop. All the other stuff was still on the car (EGR, PCV, etc.).
Having a turbo itself isn't going to change the emmissions #s, its whether or not your ECU can still maintain the mixture that is the key. If so, you'll do fine. Stock ignition timing + stock mixture + stock emmissions parts = pass.
Since then, I've ditched my EGR, PCV, and all the cats, so there is no way it will pass.
Visual inspections? We don't have those here, just the sniffer in the tailpipe on a dyno at idle and at a run for two minutes at 30mph.
As for dialing down the boost... You've got to be kidding... What are they gonna do, dial up 400rwhp and spin the rollers up to 190mph????? LOL... They're not gonna flog the car on an emmissions dyno. You'd have to strap that thing down pretty good to get it to read positive boost.
Zero psi is around 150rwhp at 4000rpm, and at that point it would be climbing off the rollers without some restraints.

when they emission tested my ride, they did tie it down. It almost looked like they expected it to take off. (180 RWHP? Yea right)

thanks for the info
SC300T, thats encouraging to hear, i'm not sure about the visual inspection thing, but if i do have to go through it, why or how could i fail with a turbo..?
