$18k for a Stock 92 SC. Seriously?
I was nosing through ebay and there is a completely stock 92 SC400 with 13k miles and the current bid is $18k. Last auction got up to $15k and didnt meet reserve. What am I missing here? That car can't possible be worth that much but guess it is to someone.
I'm not posting a link as thats frowned upon to Ebay and I am NOT the seller trying to get bids I am looking for why someone would bid well over 3 times the market value for the car even with 13k miles.

Some are willing to pay up for a very low milage vehicle, especially one as good as the SC400. They may look at how much better a car they are getting for that money than they can buy new. Last summer I paid about $12,500k US for my SC400 with less than 30000 miles. For that price it was simply far better than anything else out there.
On another note, I saw that car for sale and had the feeling that the seller may be behind the 18k bid.

This is my oppinion on that. The car has 30K. That means its in near perfect mechanical condition, and the interior and body are going to be almost flawless. Look at the used cars today with less than 30K for under 20K. Granted, there are plenty very nice vehicles for that price range and amount of miles, but the Lexus is now proven to last many people well over 200K with limited maintainence. That means you are buying a car that you know will last you a long time, and you know it will because it has been proven time, and time again. If I was in the market for a SC I would absolutly consider this. Just my $0.02

Thought bout the collector car scenario and I would be surprised in this market if thats the case. The SC, in my opinion, is far from reaching that status but maybe someone is trying to get ahead of the curve on it. If they dont turn it into a DD then maybe they'll retain some value. If someone is turning it into a DD then I don't truly see the value when they go that much out of book.
Who knows I was just surprised when I saw it get to that price point was just looking for some thoughts on it.
Thanks all!
