Wow i would have bought a lot of those cars for 4500.00, and i doubt that they were in that bad of shape considering in order to trade in it had to be insured for a yr. so they drove it for at least a year prior.

i didn't see any SCs or Supras get clunked here, but some of the cars, trucks, and vans that were clunked were in great shape. High mileage, oil leaks, cost of maintainence, and other factors led to these beauties to be clunked.

On a side note, it was fun to blow something up

Default All gone

All those useful parts gone. Bless those owners who tried to take the good parts off before trading in. Not just the cars going up in price, so are the parts.

I think the way they went about this whole program is moronic. Ordering these cars destroyed like that.

Part out the cars you f@*#ing morons!!!!!!! Look how much money people make of the classifieds sections here selling parts. I know right now I could use 2 front calipers and 2 new front sidemarkers and I'll be damned if I'm shelling out the money for new parts. SO my money will sit here in my wallet and not stimulate the economy

I agree with The ROn Tom 3.. I would have parted the whole car out, before I did the cash fo clunkers. I cant believe that many 1992's were traded in.. They might have gotten some crappy KIA or something to that effect. WTF? I would have fixed the SC and let it ride some more..

People here are saying that this did more damage than good, because now everyone is driving a newer vehicle, so what happens to the upcoming newer models that these companies keep producing? People arent going to buy them.. Makes no sense to me. They need to elect Pedro for President. ...... Vote for Pedro! :-)

I just see it as a total waste of perfectly good resources. That are becoming semi hard to find and exspensive.

^^^ Let's also not forget that most of these people who were driving these "clunkers" were driving them for a reason... they can't afford a new car!!! So when they can't make a few payments on their new car... bam! Repo time. Back to square one.

If the owners were smart they would have literally parted out everything from seats, door panels, carpets, headlights, and everything else before bringing it in
