Unhappy ***So, your SC just went up in value(a little)***

According to the Cash for Clunkers final trade in list.... only 571 SC's were swapped in for something newer & younger.....

The list is the following:
1992: 240
1993: 150
1994: 51
1995: 97
1996: 23
1997: 10

*make it 572 if you want to include the 2002 SC430!!!

Yah it was pretty crazy with all the clunkers traded in. Since I work for Nissan I had to destroy so many clunkers. Sad thing is most of the cars traded in were in clean shape and ran good. We ended up pouring liquid glass in the motor and locking it up for good.

Wow only 10 of the 1997 were traded in............I thought about trading my 97 in but changed my mind, however I'm really considering selling it because I want a Titan and my S2000 is sucking up all my time.

Some are and some are not. It depends on miles, year, condition etc....

Yeah I had fun blowing the engines up. Ran couple without oil till it had rod knock, and they run for a long time without oil. Haha some of the co workers were even pouring metal shavings from all the rotors we turn. With the sodium silicate solution the motor only last like 1min before it locks up and wont even turn over. We had one Lexus but it was a beat up ES300.

Watched a few vids on youtube, watching a 2jz get locked up is just terrible haha. That could have been a great spare motor. Now we just need someone to come out with some type of solution that breaks down the liquid glass and makes it a perfect new motor............ha!

EDIT: where did you get that list?

The list is available here

http://www.cars.gov/files/official-i...n-vehicles.pdf

A 1997 Supra was crushed I'm sure that owner could have gotten way more than 4500 even if it was NA Auto with high miles. Other notable cars on the list:

2006 A4 Cabriolet
1991 M3
1992 850i
1997 Aston Martin
2006 Cadillac STS
2008 Mustang
2 1993 Defenders
2005 RX8
1992 MB 500E
2007 Murano
Several Nissan Titans
2 2006 Roush F150s
2008 Saab 9-3
1997 Rolls Royce
2006 Volvo XC90

They were most likely trashed to sht beyond reasonable repair costs. No loss, these cars would be junked sooner or later anyway.

I may be purchasing an SC in the near future. The car in question, a red, one-owner '93 SC400 with 130k was brought into a Lexus dealer for cash for clunkers. The dealer refused to clunk it. I have an option to purchase it for the $4500. It will be nice if I have a hand in saving a nice car from that fate.
