The power tilt function on my 94 SC300 has stopped functioning, the wheel is locked in a very upright position. The wheel can still be moved back & forth (telescoping function) but when I press the button to tilt the wheel down all I hear is a "click" and no movement. I do not think this is related to a blown fuse since I looked into that in manual last night.
I had done a search here and found that a new motor for tilt function is $500. Any other options I can explore before shelling out this kind of cash for new motor - any and all help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Josh

I read something a long time ago about this on the old ladman.com board. someone had the same problem and there's some kind of worm drive gear inside that assembly. If i remember correctly, he was able to flip that gear over (since only one part touches other gears) and it worked great. Hopefully this might be of some help.

same **** happened to me. I just basically had someone pull down on the steering wheel as i pushed the down button. I was able to get the wheel into the place where i like it. I then just pressed the auto button so it no longer auto retracts. Once I get some extra money they I will see about replacing it or flipping the gear.

Good News - after having the wheel locked in place for a couple days, I got in to start the car and gave the tilt another try and it moved up and down with no problem (???) - I moved it into reasonable position and turned the auto tilt function off and just keep it in place. Not sure why it would work one day and not the next?? Obviously this is not a bad fuse issue - I hate electrical problems!
